Design capacity: Vilmar's pressure vessel division contains a design and methods office that has incorporated all of the pertinent design standards such as ASME(TEMA), BS 5500, CODAP AD MERKBLATT and their associated computer programs.

The manufacturing equipment of the pressure vessel division includes the following:

  • Guillotines covering a range of products up to 20 mm thick
  • Oxy-acetylene cutting equipment covering a range of products up to 100mm thick
  • Plasma trimming covering a range of products up to 20 mm thick Chamfering machines
  • Cold rolling units covering a range of products between 2 mm and 50 mm   Vertical lathes, drills, boring and milling machines, and a digitally-operated machining center
  • Automatic submerged arc welding, TIG, orbital welding...
  • Heat treatment, stress relief and normalizing furnaces covering a range of products between 3 m and 21 m long
  • Overhead cranes capable of handling between12, 5 and 100 tons
  • Sand-blasting and shot-peening cabins
  • Paint shops
  • Destructive and non destructive testing

Metals employed

The pressure vessel division satisfies requests for all types of metals in compliance with European, American or specially-drafted standards:

  • Carbon steels (featuring all sorts of mechanical characteristics)
  • Alloyed steels, low-alloyed steels
  • Stainless steels
  • High-grade steels: incoloy, hastelloy, inconel, etc.
  • Clad steels.

Quality control

Vilmar conducts both non-destructive and destructive testing on its entire line of boiler products:

  • Non-destructive testing
    • Design control
    • Control by bleeding
    • X-ray controls - X- and gamma-ray stations
    • Magnetic particle inspection
    • Ultrasound testing
    • Hardness control – Brinnel, Vickers, Rockwell
    • Identification of the presence of PMI matter
    • Mobile spectrotest
  • Destructive testing
    • Mechanical tests carried out in the laboratory: tension, impact resistance, bending, etc.
    • Stationary spectrometer
